Entered the Navy on Feb. of 1965. After 'A' school in Memphis and 'C' school in San Diego. Got orders to VQ-1 Atsugi, Japan. Flew out of there and additionally Cubi Point, Philippines and Danang, Vietnam. Even managed to pull a detachment once to Bangkok, Thailand.
We worked hard and long hours during detachment to "nam". When we got back to Atsugi we worked in the shop repairing "black boxes".

Took a lot of train trips around the Tokyo/Yokohama area and generally toured the area. Never got seriously lost on their subway system even though there were few signs in English.
